Intro: The Falkland Islands is a little known, predominately British island chain east of Southern Argentina that's wonderously popular for its wildlife. The Bradt guide is the most complete for travel and background information.
Highlights:
-Lots of photos of the wildlife in the Falklands such as penguins, seals, and countless birds plsu quite a few original sketches.
-The book reads like a narrative in many parts, which makes it very easy to read for someone who has never been to the Falklands and would be bored to death with straight hotel listings.
- Appendix list various Flora and Fauna so you can check off what you have seen.
-The introduction section is quite detailed, particularly with animal and conservation details.
-Extensive history is recorded including long passages on colonization, the British Military presence, the Falklands War, and detailed descriptions of the history of each island, town, and landmark.
Negatives:
-The book was last updated in 2001, so there are a few areas where updates could be useful. Although, I get the impression the Falklands aren’t overly quick to change.
-Maps are not always very detailed.
Authors: Author William Wagstaff is an accomplished Orinthologist, so he has a perfect grasp on the wildlife of the Falklands, which is why most go there in the first place. Rarely is a Guidebook author so well matched.
Other: - A photography tip section is great for helping you get the best shots of the rare and exotic wildlife of the Falklands
