The Cavas Wine Lodge is twenty minutes from the center of Mendoza, Argentina, the center of Argentina’s wine industry. Opened in 2005, the lodge has been in every luxury travel magazines hotlist in the past 2 years.
It’s the hottest hotel in Mendoza and the continent. The lodge has one of the top wine cellars around with many rare labels from Argentina, Chile and everywhere else. Many come for the restaurant alone, where Chef Sebastián Flores specializes in South American dishes such as Ribeye with Chimichuri.
The lodge is set in a private 60-acre valley where most spend their days horseback riding, hiking in the Andean mountains, rafting, or simply lazy rides through the rolling countryside. The lodge can arrange lunches and dinners in local bodegas and wineries, or in the vineyards themselves.
The 14 rooms are freestanding bungalows with high speed internet, high speed TV, and all the luxuries you would find at any of the worlds best hotels. Some of the deluxe cabanas which are in essence adobe huts, stone walls, and outdoor showers, have a private plunge pool, although most are content using the hotels outdoor one.
The price isn’t for those slim in the pocket. For a single night a room runs $310, not including the 21% IVA taxes. However, if you plan on staying for more than a night, multi day packages will save you significant cash on the rooms and includes activities, special meals, and tours to area vineyards.
