I show my abysmal knowledge of Peru by admitting that I was hitherto unaware that the Amazon rises there. Your article is an eye opener.

I shall be scurrying to my books and internet to discover more about the remarkable diversity of birdlife you describe.

If there is an abundance of butterflies, there must also, presumably, be an abundance of flora for them to feed upon.

In response to I show my abysmal knowledge of Peru by admitting that I was hith posted by Travelsleuth:
It actually has perhaps the best piece of the Amazon in terms of quality. Parks such as Tambopata and Manu (especually Manu) are uncomparable in the level of diversity of the flora and fauna...that goes for anywhere on the planet.
